Sassi di Matera: Tourism, Culture and Production

One of Italy’s touristic gems, situated near one of our favorite brand’s factory.

Sassidi Matera, situated in the south of Italy, was awarded World Heritage Site status by UNESCO since 1993. In 2019 was declared the Italian host European Capital of Culture!

Its original settlement is in two canyons carved by the Gravina River.This area, Sassidi Matera, is a complex of cave dwellings carved into the ancient river canyon, often cited as “one of the oldest continuously in inhabited cities in the world”.

Matera has gained international fame for its ancient town, the "Sassi di Matera".  Sassi is known as a picturesque touristic attraction. Today there are many thriving businesses, pubs and hotels there,and the city is among the fastest growing in southern Italy.
